About the Event
Snow White in Knoxville!
Join the Knoxville History Project as Jack Neely and Eric Dawson, chief archivist with the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound, present a local film gem for the 1940s.
In 1945 Knoxville resident Mildred Keister Dennis made a live action film based on Walt Disney’s groundbreaking animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The production starred Mildred’s 11-year old daughter Carolyn, who appeared alongside neighborhood children, and made use of locations in Savage Gardens, Sequoyah Hills, and the Dennis’s Glenwood Avenue home. The film was screened for thousands of local children over the next few years, and even received a letter of praise from Walt Disney himself.
As always, Maple Hall will be offering a menu of delicious food, craft beers, and custom cocktails for the occasion. Admission is free. Please note event is 21+.
